point-in-time count volunteer info

everyone counts in curry

Point in Time is an annual census of unsheltered people in our county and across our Nation.  The more accurate the count, the more funding we may have access to in Curry County to support affordable housing development, shelter operations, etc.

  • WHAT:   Volunteers are needed to:
  • Survey individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Provide incentives for participation
  • Collect and distribute supplies/donations

  • WHEN:  From 8:30 am and 2:00 pm (approximate end time) on:
  • January 24th in Gold Beach, OR
  •  January 25th in Port Orford, OR
  • January 27th in Brookings, OR

  • WHERE:    Co-locating with the following organizations
  • St. Timothy’s, 401 Fir St., Brookings
  • SDA Church, 94191 3rd St, Gold Beach
  • Common Good food bank, 2015 Washington St.  Port Orford
  • Brookings Core Response, 97900 Shopping Center Ave #31, Harbor
  • Brookings Harbor Community Helpers, 539 Hemlock St., Brookings

  • HOW:   We use an app that is downloaded on the volunteer’s phone called  called “Counting Us”.   Training on the app will be provided on the day of PIT count.  It’s a very user-friendly system so don’t worry, you can do it!   Volunteers will always be paired with seasoned PIT Count staff from the Curry Homeless Coalition, Brookings Core Response, or Coast Community Health in North County.

We also need volunteers to assist with street outreach or brush count.  Brush count involves going upriver, to locations we know people are gathered and not likely to come to town for the count.   Again, volunteers will always be paired with a staff member.

Please provide your information below and we will be in contact.
